The Artist
Travis Bonneau (b. 1973) is an American multicultural, multidisciplinary artist born and raised in Portland, Oregon. From a young age, he expressed creativity and energy through both athletics and the arts, participating in organized sports, art camps, BMX riding, b-boying, and skateboarding. During high school and college, he excelled in wrestling, becoming a Junior National All-American in Greco-Roman for Team Oregon (Grant HS), an Espoir National Freestyle Champion, and an All-American at both Clackamas Community College and Portland State University.
This unique balance of discipline and creativity shaped Bonneau’s artistic journey. His work reflects a deep sense of cultural continuity, exploring themes rooted in hip-hop, skateboarding, Rastafari culture, and Indigenous traditions. Tribal and native-inspired patterns flow through his use of color, light, shadow, and sacred geometry, creating multidimensional expressions across portraiture, landscapes, and abstract compositions.
In addition to visual art, Bonneau is also a poet. His writings and poetry—inspired by universal human experiences—are available in print and are often woven into his handmade paintings and artist books, bridging language and visual form.
Today, Travis Bonneau’s art embodies cultural reflection, creative energy, and spiritual exploration, making his work resonate with diverse audiences and collectors worldwide.
